My father is perfect
His life runs with the precision of a fine Swiss watch
He knows how to create absolute perfection
He knows every minute detail of everything there is to know
And he expects the same from me

I cannot say the same for myself
No, I would have to classify myself as the paranoid schizophrenic
Each day as my father drives his car into the garage
At exactly 6:11 pm
I panic, my heartbeat increases, and I say to myself
What have I done wrong today?

Perhaps I left the room without turning off the light
Maybe I forgot to turn off the water to the dishwasher
Is it possible that I left the kitchen door open?
My God, the heat is escaping into the hallway!
Did I clean the bathtub after my bath?
Perhaps he will notice that I put a chemically treated apple peel
On the organic compost pile
Or perhaps he saw the power light on the washing machine
Then he will know I did laundry on Tuesday
And laundry day is Thursday

Yes, my father is perfect
He has all of the answers for all of the problems in the world
If only the rest of us could be as perfect as he
If only we were not so stupid
What a perfect world this would be!
